Day 2: Meeting with Lai Chack Student Hosts & Learning Journey

We were all looking forward to the arrival in Lai Chack middle school. We were all very excited to meet our new friends in Lai Chack Middle School. Upon arrival in Lai Chack Middle school, we went to the canteen for breakfast. We each had a partner who guides us in buying breakfast. After breakfast, we were introduced to the whole school.

The Gift Presented to the Lai Chack Middle School. The art piece designed and made by the HIHS D&T and Art Department, titled 'Planting Tree' (translated from the chinese word 'Zi Shu').

Then, we went to the sixth level, a room for meeting and briefing. We were very friendly and we received a lot of warmed welcome from the students and teachers there. We then played games to get to know our buddies better. We then went to our classroom experiences.

When the school ended, we went to shop at the Lady’s Street. But the duration to shop was too short as we overshot the time. The things over there were similar but are cheaper as compare to the Singapore’s stuff. The street there was like Chinatown except that the width of the road is narrower than Singapore’s. We enjoyed bargaining and shopping around for stuffs.
Next, we went back to Lai Chack middle school for handicraft activities we used goat’s wool, known as felt. We still needles to poke into the goat’s wool to make into a ball. We used all different colours to make the eyes, the mouth, the hair, the scarf, the body and the face. It is about 3cm in diameter. And it looks like a penguin.

After the handicraft activity, some of the students of Lai Chack middle school welcomes us and performed for us in the assembly area. We chatted, played ball games and sing as we bond together with our buddies. The dinner served was ‘Pen Cai’. It includes mushroom, chicken and other stuff that look like the steamboat we have in Singapore.
