Day 7: School Experience & Visit to Historical, Science and Space Museums

After school, we went to the Science, Space and History Museums and Mr. Lai took a lot of pictures with and of us. At the History Museum, we got to see many interesting things that cannot be found in Singapore. There were many exhibits showing the very old scene of the past. For example, showing the old shops like medical shops, barber and herbal tea shops. There were other interesting exhibits such as the exhibit showcasing the fisherfolk and their livelihood on the boat. The exhibits were very interesting, engaging and looked very real. From the museum, we also got to know about the changes in Hong Kong from Devonian Period 400 million years ago and conclude with the return of sovereignty of the territory to China in 1997.

At the Science Museum, we had a lot of fun trying out the different experiments and effects. There was one experiment that we had to put our fingers on a button and feel a slight electric shock. Mr. Lai tried it and surprisingly, he did not have any reaction from it. Another experiment that we tried showed us that electricity could pass through our bodies. About six of us, including Mr Lai, tried it out. We experimented by holding hands, putting our fingers together, touching the clothes and even our hair! Two people had to “hold” the ‘hand’ of the machine and we will see the light bulb light up.

Lastly we went to the Avenue of Stars. At the Avenue of Stars, we met some of our buddies who specially came to see us. We walked around and chatted while we waited for the light show to start. We saw some square areas of land that had the handprints and signatures of famous Hong Kong artists. We even saw a statue of Bruce Lee! The light show started soon and laser and lights shined in the night sky in beat with the music played.

I really enjoyed the music played. After the show, we realized we were late for the bus. Not only that, we were pretty far from the meeting place too, so we ran all the way back to the bus. Luckily we were not forgotten and managed to reach the bus.
